Medical
Provider Networks
The use of skilled, responsible medical providers well versed in
occupational health concerns can make an enormous difference in
ensuring that injured employees receive care of a uniformly high
quality . . . AND can make a significant difference in containing
medical costs. In implementing Cooperative Care, we have
access to a network of professionals who administer quality treatment,
using nationally recognized standards, and who understand the steps
that can be taken to get injured employees back on the job.
As a result, a customized list of medical providers, representing
a range of specialists, is prepared for use by our policyholders,
regardless of size, in most parts of our operating area. We mail
this list (often referred to as a "physicians panel") directly to
the business at the time our policy is issued; then, we follow-up
with a call to ensure that the package has arrived, been reviewed,
and been understood. In particular, we walk the employer via
phone through each step involved in setting up a program, an
activity we have named installation which can include activities
such as posting of the panel, obtaining (when applicable) employee
Acknowledgment Forms, and explaining claims reporting procedures.
We make sure the benefits of this program are fully outlined so we
can encourage active participation.
